In the Beginning...

Stupid moose. Sarengeti thought. Why did it have to kick sideways? I mean, that's not normal! It should've kicked behind itself! She was angry at the bull moose that killed her parents when she was an eight-month-old pup. She was raised by a pup sitter until she was one year-old, and then they cast her out into the wild. The life of a lone wolf is a pain. She thought. She was wandering dangerously close to another pack's territory, waiting for a pack to howl the single note that meant, "We have an opening that a lone wolf can take." Then she would lope to that pack to be tested. Maybe I could just find a mate and start my own pack. This seemed like a really good idea compared to wandering around aimlessly always wondering whether a pack would have an opening or not. Then one day Sarengeti did meet a male lone wolf, named Bly. They became mates and started their own pack, ShadowPack. Then Sarengeti gave birth to two pups, a female named Aquene and a male named Catori. One day, Bly was out hunting. He tracked a fawn near a road,  and it bolted across. Bly gave chase after it. The next thing he knew, he heard a car roaring closer and closer. BAM!!! And then it was only Sarengeti and her two pups. The pups never found out what happened to their father, but Sarengeti knew. She had a way of knowing things. She told her Aquene and Catori that their father had died a heroic death, hunting food for his family. As the pups grew, Sarengeti knew that she would have to find a new mate soon to restart her pack. The only problem was where to find one...
